So you’ve released music. You’re getting streams on Spotify, some views on YouTube, a few listeners on Apple Music or SoundCloud. That’s awesome!
But here’s the thing most artists don’t realize:
👉 All those numbers matter—especially when you’re pitching your song to Christian radio.
The key is learning to combine those stats into one powerful story.
🎯 Why “Total Reach” Matters to Radio
When you pitch your music to a Christian radio station, they’re asking one simple question:
“Will our audience connect with this artist?”
And while radio is still deeply driven by heart and ministry, real data helps open the door.
Imagine you’re a station manager getting two emails:
- Artist A: “Here’s my new song. Hope you like it!”
- Artist B: “Here’s my new worship song—it has 15,000 total plays across Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube in the first month.”
Which one stands out?
🔁 Combine Your Streaming Numbers
Here’s how to calculate and present your total digital reach:
| Platform | Metric to Track |
|---|---|
| Spotify | Streams, saves, listeners |
| Apple Music | Plays, Shazams, purchases |
| YouTube | Views, likes, comments |
| SoundCloud | Plays, reposts, followers |
| Bandcamp/iTunes | Sales/downloads |
| Instagram/FB | Reel views, profile clicks |
Add them all up and say something like:
“Our recent single reached over 22,000 listeners across streaming platforms, with 8,000 views on YouTube and 30+ fan posts sharing the song on Instagram in the first 30 days.”
You’re not bragging. You’re showing that people already care—and inviting radio to be part of the momentum.
Pitching Christian Radio? Do This:
- Gather all your DSP stats (Spotify for Artists, Apple Music for Artists, YouTube Studio, etc.)
- Create a one-sheet or email that highlights:
- Genre + song title
- Streaming milestone
- Fan response (testimonies, social comments, shares)
- Link to listen/download (preferably a PlayMPE or direct MP3)
- Focus on ministry fit, not just numbers
– Add a short quote about why you wrote the song or what God has been doing through it.
Stations love hearing that the song is already ministering—and that it has traction too.
Your Stats Tell a Story—So Use Them
If you’ve been quietly growing on Spotify, or your lyric video got a thousand views, or people are Shazaming your song in Brazil—don’t downplay it.
God may be using those numbers to open doors.
And radio may be the next one to open.
