Indie CCM Spotlight
The past few weeks also saw exciting releases from independent Christian artists. Don’t sleep on these standout indie singles – they may be outside the major label system, but they are brimming with ministry and talent:
One indie release we couldn’t skip this week is a fresh version of “Days of Elijah” by Vespers Worship, featuring and arranged by Tyler Philip Ratcliffe. This cover brings a new spark to a classic. Tyler’s touch gives it a bold, cinematic worship vibe while still keeping the heart of the original. It’s powerful, anthemic, and honestly just really fun to sing along with. If you grew up on this song or just love big worship moments—you’ll want this one on your playlist.
Britt Nicole – “Faith” – She’s back! Beloved pop songstress Britt Nicole has made a bold independent comeback with her new single “Faith,” released May 16. It’s a vibrant, synth-driven anthem about trusting God’s plan even after walking through fire. Longtime fans will recognize Britt’s signature catchy hooks and powerful vocals – now infused with a new maturity born of personal trials. “Faith” is the first taste of Britt’s upcoming indie album, and it delivers the empowering, upbeat sound we’ve missed. This song will have you singing “I’ll walk by faith and not by sight!” at the top of your lungs.
Andrew Ripp – “Fences” – Singer-songwriter Andrew Ripp (known for the hit “Jericho”) dropped a reflective new single called “Fences” on May 16. Released independently, “Fences” is a soulful, folk-pop tune that finds Ripp exploring themes of community and loving our neighbors. In fact, Andrew was inspired to write it after helping a neighbor rebuild after a tornado – a real-life story that gives the song authentic heart. His warm, raspy voice carries lyrics about tearing down the figurative fences between people and extending grace. “Fences” feels like a timely reminder that God’s love calls us to open up and connect. It’s acoustic-driven, earnest, and very much Andrew Ripp at his best.
(Honorable mentions: Other indie releases include Grace Graber’s catchy pop single “Better Now,” the worship collective The Worship Initiative’s new song “His Glory and My Good,” and Jamie Grace’s return to touring with her A Little Different acoustic tour.)
