If you’ve been looking for a worship anthem that hits you in the heart and lifts your hands in surrender—The Spark just released one you’ll want on repeat.
Their newest single, “With Arms Outstretched,” featuring powerhouse vocalist Jen Ledger and produced by Korey Cooper (both of Skillet), is now out and streaming everywhere. This isn’t just a track—it’s a response. The band calls it a “worship song of response” that was born straight out of their local church worship gatherings. And trust us: it’s one of those songs that doesn’t just fill a room—it shifts the atmosphere.
🙌 Behind the Song: Worship With a Wide-Open Heart
At its core, “With Arms Outstretched” is a song all about surrender—real, raw, passionate surrender to the One who gave everything for us. The band describes it as “an expression of extravagance, an enthusiastic embrace of resurrecting life.”
The title, in case you’re wondering, is super intentional. It points to Jesus, literally stretched out on the cross for our sin—and to our own response: arms lifted, hearts open.
“He literally stretched His arms out wide as nails were driven through them to take our sin… Metaphorically, we have our arms outstretched in surrender as He brings the gift of salvation… Through His resurrection, we now can know new life in Him!”
— Chris Marvin, The Spark
And this song isn’t just sitting on a playlist. It’s already been sung in church gatherings big and small—and according to the band, God keeps showing up every single time.
“We’ve led worship with ‘With Arms Outstretched’ both at our little church and at large events. Everywhere we take it, we have really known God’s presence with us as we strive to point to Him while we sing.”
— Chris Marvin
🎙️ Jen Ledger + Korey Cooper Bring the Fire
Let’s talk about that collab for a second.
Yep, that’s Jen Ledger on vocals (of Skillet and LEDGER), delivering pure, powerful vocals that soar over the track. And the production? That’s Korey Cooper, crafting a layered worship atmosphere that feels intimate and anthemic all at once.
It’s the kind of track that gently pulls you in, then sweeps you off your feet.
Fans of Skillet will recognize the sonic excellence, but this track highlights a new side of Jen and Korey’s gifts—serving the local church in a fresh, worship-centered way. The best part? They’re all part of the same church family, so this wasn’t a business deal—it was worship overflow.
“It beckons the listener to join in praise.”
🎸 Meet The Spark
The Spark is more than just a band—they’re a movement.
Led by husband-and-wife duo Chris and Rosie Marvin, The Spark started way back in 2004 after the two graduated from their church’s School of Worship and started writing songs together. Later on, Mike Berea (bass) and Paul Cooper (synth) joined the mission, rounding out the team.
Their focus? Simple:
- Lead people into God’s presence
- Love Jesus LOUD
- Write songs that stir up the kind of worship that changes lives
Their music blends joyful pop-rock energy with deep, biblical truth. You’ll hear bright guitar riffs, bold melodies, and lyrics that don’t water down the gospel. It’s worship that refuses to play it safe—and that’s what makes it powerful.
(A fire, after all, starts with a spark.)
Over the years, The Spark has released two full-length albums and two EPs of original worship songs. Their 2022 live album ASCENT featured special appearances from John Cooper, Korey Cooper, and Jen Ledger, and helped set the stage for even deeper collaborations—like the one we’re seeing now with “With Arms Outstretched.”
