The song started as a personal songwriting challenge for Tyler: what would the most recognizable Sunday school song sound like as a high-energy folk anthem you’d hear at a concert instead of in a classroom?

As he wrote, the message became deeply personal.

“The older I get, the more I realize that letting your light shine isn’t just a cute lyric from childhood. It’s actually one of the hardest things to do. It means refusing to hide who you are, refusing to shrink your faith, and choosing to stand out in a world that often wants you to blend in.”

Tyler adds: “On the back roads, the highways, to my friends, anywhere He sends me… I’m going to let it shine.”

It’s now his personal anthem, and a bold invitation for listeners to live out their faith with the same fire.
