Josh Clay Relaunches “Greater Than The Grave” With Remastered Release

kingdomchorus | March 15, 2026

Christian artist Josh Clay is revisiting the song that started it all.

His powerful single “Greater Than The Grave” has officially been remastered and relaunched on March 13, 2026, bringing new life to the very first song he ever released as an artist.

For Josh, this song is more than just another release in his catalog. It represents the moment he first discovered his voice as a songwriter and stepped into the sound that would define his music.

The Song That Started Everything

“Greater Than The Grave” holds a special place in Josh Clay’s journey.

It was the first song he ever released, and it was also the moment he realized he had found something unique musically.

Sometimes artists spend years searching for the sound that feels authentic. For Josh, that moment happened quickly and unexpectedly.

The inspiration came while he was watching the Beatles documentary on Disney Plus. In the film, the band talks about having 14 days to write 14 songs. That creative challenge stuck with him.

So Josh decided to try something similar.

He began writing songs with the goal of pushing himself creatively, and on day two, while practicing for church, something unexpected happened.

He started singing a melody that began with the line:

“No mountain that may come my way…”

Then he mumbled something about a grave.

Within thirty minutes, the entire song had come together.

A Song Born in a Moment

Like many powerful songs, “Greater Than The Grave” didn’t come from overthinking or careful planning. It came from a spontaneous moment of creativity.

Josh quickly recorded a demo of the song, and that demo eventually became the first version people heard.

Later on, he would revisit the track in a full studio setting with live musicians for his debut album, which was also titled Greater Than The Grave.

But the heart of the song has always stayed the same.

It’s a declaration of faith.

A Message of Victory and Faith

At its core, “Greater Than The Grave” is about the victory found in Christ.

The lyrics reflect the reality that believers face struggles, fears, and obstacles in life, yet those challenges never have the final word.

The chorus declares:

“No mountain that may come my way
No fear that I will ever face
Ain’t nothing gonna shake my faith cause
My God is greater than the grave”

The song also references the story of Lazarus, reminding listeners that the same power that raised Lazarus and Jesus from the dead still brings life, freedom, and restoration today.

The message is simple but powerful.

No matter what battles someone faces, God is greater than the grave.

Josh Clay’s Sound and Musical Direction

Josh Clay’s music blends modern Christian worship with alternative CCM influences.

Drawing inspiration from artists like Brandon Lake and Phil Wickham, along with the modern pop energy of bands like Imagine Dragons and OneRepublic, his sound combines strong vocals with faith centered storytelling.

Alongside his work as a solo artist, Josh is also a producer and co founder of Digital Addiction, a creative music production company.

With a background in worship leadership and songwriting, his mission remains clear, creating music that points listeners toward the hope found in the gospel.

Why This Song Still Matters

Releasing a remastered version of “Greater Than The Grave” is more than a nostalgic moment.

For Josh, it represents the foundation of his entire musical journey.

He has often said that without this song, there might not even be a “Josh Clay Music.”

It was the moment he found the confidence to step forward as an artist and pursue the calling God placed on his life.

And the message of the song continues to resonate today.

No mountain.

No fear.

No struggle.

Nothing is greater than the victory found in Christ.
