One of Leslie’s co-writers had recently started serving as a worship pastor at a new church. While observing how communion was handled, they noticed that some long-standing church members appeared more concerned with the placement of furniture and the presentation of the communion elements than with the sacred meaning behind them.

The conversation raised an important question: Have we become so familiar with communion that we have forgotten what it represents?

Communion is more than receiving bread and wine. It is an invitation to remember the body of Jesus, the blood He poured out, and the price He willingly paid to make salvation possible.

Leslie and her co-writers began reflecting on the uncomfortable and heartbreaking reality of the cross. To understand the depth of Christ’s love, believers must be willing to look honestly at His sacrifice.

“You can’t know the significance of it if you won’t look at it,” Leslie explained. “If you don’t have a proper view of the cross, you’ll never fully understand it.”

That conversation became the foundation of “Can’t Thank You Enough.”
